Professor Ooi’s team wins TRB’s ‘Best Paper Award’
Professor Phillip Ooi and his team’s paper on “Long-Term Behavior Of A Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil
Integrated Bridge System in Hawaiʻi” was reviewed by the Transportation Research Board’s Standing Committee on Geosynthetics and nominated for award consideration. Upon further review by the Geotechnical Engineering Section, it was selected to receive the 2019 Geotechnical Engineering Section’s Best Paper Award!
The Federal Highway Administration’s sponsored the research project on the Kauaula Stream Bridge through their Innovative Bridge Research and Deployment program. Domingo Galicinao submitted the proposal for the project on the team’s behalf while Paul Santo was the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation’s sponsor.
The Section Best Paper Award certificate will be presented at the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. in January, 2020.
