UH hosts the Hawai‘i Autonomous Vehicle Institute Forum

On May 21st, experts in autonomous vehicle technology gathered at the iLab on the UH Mānoa campus to discuss the strategic plan to safely bring connected autonomous vehicle (CAV) technology–the core of the next-generation in advanced transportation–to Hawai‘i. Recent proposed bills relevant to AV testing and 5G LTE position Hawai‘i to embrace this emerging technology. Hawai‘i will play a key role in improving safe and congestion-free transportation while budding spun-off industries may lead to unprecedented opportunities for Hawai‘i’s economy.  Presentations included:

“Cars Will Be Connected… to (Just About) Everything”
by Dave Rolf, President, Hawaiʻi Automobile Association

“International Perspectives on AV Preparedness”
by Robert Fischer, President, Geospatial Transportation Information Management Association

“WTF: What’s the Future?”
by Mark Platshon, Managing Director, Icebreaker Ventures
