Highlights from the 25th Annual UH College of Engineering Banquet
Over 900 guests enjoyed an evening showcasing student innovations and community member achievements at the 25th Annual UH College of Engineering Banquet on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Hawai’i Convention Center. The much-anticipated annual gathering is the College’s largest fundraiser, with proceeds supporting undergraduate research, and brings together current students and faculty with alumni and industry members for a memorable evening of entertainment, celebration, and connections. The festivities kicked off with a cocktail reception showcase of the latest student research projects, featuring over 30 teams with technologies such as drones, rockets, bridges, satellites, rovers, 3D printing advancements, an EV-race car, and more. Attendees then enjoyed a farm-to-table meal while enjoying student-provided entertainment from inspirational vocalist Eulamai Tingco (civil engineering) and ukulele wiz Ryden Omine (mechanical engineering). Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke kicked off the formal program, which honored three inspirational community members – Michael Magaoay (Outstanding Service Award), Alan Arakawa (Distinguished Alumni Award) and Colton Ching (Dean’s Award of Excellence), as well as this year’s featured student group, the ASCE Hawaii UH chapter.
