STARTING FALL 2019

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will offer a new Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering (CNST) with dedicated emphasis in the construction field of civil engineering. Graduates of the program will be Construction Engineers. Construction engineering is less focused on mathematical solutions and design of projects; it is more focused on the processes of material and supply flows, scheduling, crew management, site compliance and safety, etc. ABET, the organization that accredits engineering programs, recognizes 28 different programs including Construction Engineering.

Applications are being accepted for Fall 2019, with graduation possible in Spring 2020.  Given that Construction Engineering is a brand new degree, the program is not yet accredited by ABET. However, the College’s next accreditation visit will be in Fall 2021, and we anticipate receiving accreditation, which, once granted, will cover past graduates.

Students interested in applying for or transferring to the BS in Construction Engineering program should schedule an appointment to meet with CEE Department Chairman to go over their check sheet course progress and other details prior to transferring. The CNST check sheet is linked here.
