The Transportation Library Department of Civil Engineering University of Hawaii at Manoa

In late 1995, the Hawaii Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), the Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at the University of Hawaii (UH-CE), and the Hawaii Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) discussed the joint organization and operation of a Transportation Library system for use by transportation institutions, agencies and professionals within the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Pacific Islands.

The participating agencies have established an Advisory Board to provide general direction and guidance.

It was agreed that the main component of the library would be housed at the UH-CE with plans for expansion to a larger network of related libraries or collections.
