Aloha! Aloha from Hawaii

The UH student chapter of Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) was established in October 1993. The chapter is organized and operated by students under the supervision of the professors at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The chapter actively arranges for speakers to make presentations for members and combines visits to "the field" with room meetings.

The UH student chapter of ITE is a great way to meet other students interested in the field of Transportation Engineering. It also provides valuable networking opportunities with Professors and Professionals working in Transportation Engineering.

  • The ITE student chapter's goals include the promotion of understanding and issues in transportation and traffic engineering through interaction with those in the profession and the Institute.

  • The chapter helps to acquaint students with subjects such as congestion management, intelligent transportation systems, traffic control etc., by inviting speakers or by visiting agencies or project locations.

  • Other goals of the Chapter include the strengthening of the University's transportation engineering program and participation in volunteer efforts such as the "Adopt a Highway" program, campus and other local transportation issues, etc.

  • Chapter members have opportunities to improve their technical and communications skills through personal and public relations.
