HKN, as an officially recognized student organization at the University of Hawaii, does not engage in hazing
Everything (the quiz, count, task pictures…) are due by 4:00 PM on Friday February 17 to the Pledge Master.
If anyone is uncomfortable with any of the tasks, you may choose not to participate in the days activities and take a point deduction or talk to Pledge Master for alternative solutions

M 02.06 Baby Day
Wear a bib that says "HKN pledge". Optional: pacifier, bonnet or diaper over clothes
W 02.08 UH Pride Day
Wear anything with a UH logo. Optional: Pom poms, face paint, dressing up like Vili, etc.
F 02.10 HKN Day
Wear HKN T-shirts
4:00 - 5:00 PM : Technical Presentations
M 02.13 Cartoon Costume
Dress up as a cartoon character. Approval from Pledge master Gina is needed prior to set up requirements and optional items.
W 02.15 Inanimate Object Day
Dress up as any type of inanimate object. Some examples: computer, refrigerator, microwave, scanner, stapler, rice bag, etc. Approval from Pledge master Gina is needed prior to set up requirements and optional items
F 02.17 Engineering Day
a. Morning : HS Expo : Wear CoE Shirt
b. Evening (5 PM to 8 PM): Honor Society Challenge

Wear business attire (men: long-sleeve shirt & tie, women: pants or skirt & nice blouse. Optional: wear a suit)

| Plaque |
Requirements:
Each pledge must create their own plaque
Plaque must include the letters HKN or Eta Kappa Nu,
the symbols Delta Omega, and the wheat stone bridge (diamond)
Plaque must be at least the size of a regular folder paper (8.5"x11")
Plaque can be made of any type of material
BUT it must have at least 2 different types of material (glue, tape, ... don't count!)
Pledges will be required to carry the plaques with them at ALL times during pledge weeks

Individual Task
Must be a technical presentation of any electrical engineering topic of advancement that interests you (ex: a topic such as Fourier Transform or an advancement like cell phones)

As one group, all pledges will talk to Dr. Najita and create a report on the history of HKN.

Team Quiz
Wear costumes assigned for everyday and have pictures taken
by officers
Count or calculate:
.....All the holes in the Holmes building (fractions of holes will
be estimated and kept as fractions. If holes are covered, do not
count them)
.....All the tiles on the second floor of POST (includes bathroom
tiles (floor and wall), HP computer lab, count fractions of tiles
as fractions)
.....Calculate the surface area of the orange statue outside of
Holmes hall.
Scavenger hunt (take pictures of the following events or
VIDEOs are BONUS):
.....All team members must be on the rainbow shuttle in
aloha print attire with a great big smile and a shaka!
.....Be creative with the 3 statues in front of the law school
.....Be a musical group. More creative, more points (ex. NSYNC,
backstreet boy, G-unit, Beatles, village people, etc.)
.....Individual pictures (or videos):
..........Alan: be a living Christmas tree (with lights wrapped
around your body, etc.)
..........Arthur: Pose with a rolly bag
..........Kellie: Check out a guy (it should be someone you know
and agrees to do it) up close with binoculars at the Campus Center

| Point System |
A point system has been made to determine the winner. You can win points for your team (or lose points for your team) based on your performance, magnitude of participation, and creativity.
+5 pts: first place individual
+3 pts: second place individual
+1 pt: third place individual
-3 pts: minimum participation
-10 pts: no participation
