We had a general meeting today here's what happened:-Assistant Dean Bruce Liebert was our guest speaker today. He spoke to us about future fees for COE students to improve lab equipment.
-2009 Conference will be hosted by ASCE UH Manoa.
We still need people to help us plan events. Let us know if you would like to help.
-2008 Pacific Southwestern Regional Conference:
Event sign up sheets were passed out. Let us know if you would like to sign up for an event but you were not able to sign up tonight. Estimated costs for each person is $400 and will be due Jan 31st. This fee will include airfare, hotel, $60 fee, and van rental. Prices may be lowered if we recieve more donations.
-Concrete Canoe Updates:
Mold is almost done and the team will be ready for fiberglassing within a week. They are planning to pour after Thanksgiving. A week behind due to mix decisions. Come out and help! See Concrete Canoe page.
-Bridge Updates:
Email will be sent about Welding days and fabrication. Check your email.
-Krispe Kreme Fundraiser:
We've raised approx. $1000. Thank you to everyone who helped out and everyone who bought! Don't forget to pick up your donuts tomorrow at Holmes Hall!! 9:45AM to 2PM at HOlmes Hall first floor. (Help is still needed to pass out donuts!)
-The W fundraiser:
Will be next week Friday night, November 16th, 2007. Open bar until 11PM! Tickets are still being sold but ASCE Members please get your money in as soon as possible.
-Habitat for Humanity Community Service:
This Saturday, November 10, 2007, we will be helping Habitat for Humanity build a home in Waianae. Drivers are offering to drive volunteers down from UH. They will be meeting at 7AM. This is a continuing project. They will be helping out every saturday from about 8AM to 3PM. Let us know if you would like to Help out.
This Saturday is also the Hanahaoli Fair
Contact Karen, our President if you would like to help out. We need help setting up bridge and canoe .

Picture taking of ASCE UH Manoa will take place on a Tuesday at 4:30PM. We'll send out emails for an exact date.

We had our second General Meeting on Tursday, October 11th. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it. If you were not able to make it here's a recap:-The Pacific South West Regional Conference will be held on April 3rd-5th, 2007 at California State University, Northridge. Visit www1.pswrc2008.com or contact one of our officers if you have any questions. Also, PSWRC 2009 will be hosted by our school. Please let us know if you would like to help plan this event.
-Swinerton Incorporated presented a $5,000 check to ASCE. All funds will be directed towards the concrete canoe 2008.
-The concrete canoe captains presented a presentation on their work plans regarding the concrete canoe. They will begin constructing soon and ask all those who are interested in helping out to contact them.
-Fundraising: We are currently doing a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser ($10/dozen). ASCE members, email asce@hawaii.edu if you would like to pick up tickets. Pick up donuts on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Holmes first floor.
We will also be selling presale tickets to "The W" (Waikiki Club 21+). Presale tickets are $10 each for Friday, November 16, 2007 ($15 is the regular price). Please pick up presale tickets from your fundraising chair, Todd, or contact one of our officers.
Fundraising helps decrease costs for our trip to Northridge for this upcoming conference. We encourage all ASCE members to take part in fundraising.
-Upcoming Events: Community service with EWB Habitat for Humanity in early November. Dates will be posted soon.
Dinner with the Dean is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Holmes Hall 244. It's a great opportunity to voice your opinions in an informal atmosphere.
Chi Epsilon Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 3rd. Different teams each with their own discipline (CE, ME, EE) will be challenging each other. Rules are each team has 9 players max. and a mandatory girl to play at all times. Let us know if you are interested.
Other events:
Passport to success on Oct 26th
Jr. Expo on Nov. 16th: Popsicle Bridge Contest & Roller coaster mania(hosted by ASCE.) Volunteers needed!

Hope you like the new layout of our webpage. Upcoming events have been posted and we have our second General Meeting for next week Thursday. We hope all of you will be able to make it. The canoe team captains will be presenting their plans about the concrete canoe. Come and check it out. There will be free food and more announcements.Pictures!!! Info. Sessions!! There will be informational sessions with SSFM, on Tuesday, October 9th at 12:00P, and Swinerton, on Wednesday, October 10th at 3:30P. It will be a great opportunity to meet engineering companies and learn more about them. If you have questions about this event please contact one of our officers. Concrete Canoe: Our concrete canoe from PSWRC 2007, He'enui, was taken to Hawai'i Kai, on Sunday, September 30th by the concrete canoe team for their first canoe paddling practice. Pictures will be posted on the Concrete Canoe Page. If you would like to help out with the concrete canoe or have questions about it please attend our General Meeting next week Thursday, October 11th at 4:30PM in Holmes 244.
